“Experiencing a fascinating

world of taste”

Paul & Steve (founders)

Just steps away from the hustle and bustle of city life in Valletta lies a pretty restaurant in an equally beautiful street. Taste Restaurant is located in St Lucija, arguably one of the most picturesque streets in Valletta. We endeavour to deliver a positively unforgettable dining out experience that merges tasty food within a scenic environment.

As the restaurant’s name gives away, our priority is, unsurprisingly, great taste. Our aim is to deliver local, classic tastes, with a touch of modern cuisine. We strive to provide the most flavourful, delectable dishes, while always using the best ingredients. These are sourced locally and are always made with fresh, homegrown, Mediterranean ingredients.

Our team works hard to source the best produce, and always uses seasonal vegetables and homegrown products. For this reason, our menu varies according to the season, be it our mouth-watering octopus dressed with a tangy tomato and caper purée, our juicy local pork belly or our sumptuous desserts, often inspired by family recipes.

We are particularly proud of our wine menu that boasts different wines from all over the world. Especially close to heart are the local wines, with some varieties that hail from various wineries in Malta and Gozo. The Maltese Islands are indeed blessed with very fine, local grapes.

All those who visit this restaurant will not only be taken on an unforgettable palatable journey, but they will also be dining in a building imbued with a rich and colourful history.

The building in which the restaurant is housed tells many a story, the most well-known one dating back to World War II. During this time, the British soldiers used it as a back entry for slaves, while the well-to-dos entered from the main door that is situated at St. Lucy Street, Valletta.

Taking its inspiration from this colourful history, the restaurant has been luxuriously finished in modern design, while retaining the building’s heritage. In the warmer evenings, diners will enjoy sitting outside in the quaint outdoor area. This is the perfect place to take in some of Valletta’s idiosyncratic features, from quintessential Maltese balconies, to stone staircases, colourful potted flowers and small trees, all against the majestic background of St Paul’s Church.
